African-American Women Students at The University of Iowa

1954

Jewel Limar Prestage becomes the first African American woman at any U.S. university to receive a Ph.D. in Political Science. In 1988, after a distinguished teaching career, Prestage is inducted into the The University of Iowa Black Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
