Full Text	Camp Gorman Mis Thursday Jan 1/63 Dear wife Once more I am engaged in writing a few lines to you not knowing when they will reach you very soon or not for since we have been here we have had no regular mail We are still at Friar's Point but we expect to leave here soon to guard another cotton stand I rec a letter from you a week ago last night and expect another the next time we rec any mail Yesterday morning our pickets were fired on from a plantation close by but as soon as our Col. heard of it he ordered a squad of men to burn every building to ashes which was done in short order or in one time
