Detroit May 3rd 1863 Lieut G W Strong 15th M I vol Grand Junction Tenn Sir yours of the 24th is at hand and and contents noted I am glad to hear you have good times and enjoying good health with regard to the raising of a Col regement I do not think it probable that there is any sight the governmet officer seem to be obstinate about it they have not given us any satisfaction yet So far but should there be anything incouraging turn up I notify you there are squads of coloured men leaving this state every week for Mass Reg If they do not do something for us soon they will be of to the wars before we get ready Our troups are raising the devil with Rebels on the Rapahannock It is reported this morning that our forces cut off communication between Richmon & Fredricksburg and an other division coming up in their rear at Fredricksburg
