Dear Family:
I have your two letters, received today, in hand. I have read and re-read them both carefully. That their contents, correlative and supplementary in nature and import, were written after due delay and consideration and animated by fervent desire for my best interests and welfare, there can be no doubt. The suggestions therein proposed are sound; however, that the steps outlined are correct and the best -- of that I am a little dubious. Inasmuch as you did say in your letter, father, that the aforementioned suggestions were being presented for my consideration, and inasmuch as I have been intimately connected with the general situation here for three years, permit me to add my comment and arguments.
