Sir,
The honour that is conferred upon me by one of the first literary characters in England, has not only gratified, but highly flattered a young author whom you have not thought unworthy of patronizing. I shall with the greatest pleased insert the name of Maurice in the list of those who have encouraged me to publish a Third Edition of my poetic Trifles, and if they have not caught as much brilliance from the Muse as the 'Ode to Mithra' you have done me and which I have read & admired the Honour to present to me, they will, I hope, afford
