Very many thanks for the Cheque for the ad¬dress which I herewith formally acknowledge. It is more than I expected and you thus make me conscious of your liberality as well as your kindly remembrances. From yourself I should certainly have taken nothing but as you have had a partner I am content enough to regard it as a business transaction.
