Kensington.--Oct. 3. [1840][1]
My dear Sir,
Owing to an unlucky mistake on the part of my messenger, I am obliged to send the Legend of Florence right on from the bookseller's to Argyle Street without first seeing it; so that I cannot have the pleasure of putting my name in the blank page. Said cognomen, however, comes to you, properly autographed, in another book, of which I beg your acceptance, & by & by, I hope to have some opportunity of doing as much for its companion. Receive my best thanks meantime for your magnificent heap of little books, which shall value on every account; & be kind enough to make my acknowledg-
