Kensington—Nov. 28.
My dear Sir,
I fear you must have been thinking me strangely
inattentive; but I have really not been so. I have only
been delayed by the daily expectation of being able to send
you an Italian print of the Fiesolan scene in the
Decameron; & I still hope to do so at the beginning of the coming week; but I could not longer forbear writing. The scene presents the "Valley of Ladies," as it existed in Boccaccio's [Continued at top of page from Page 4]
P. S. I don't know "Festus"; but I have seen enough of his book to know that he is worthy of Tennison's admiration. Mrs. Hunt & all of us beg kindest remembrances. The most favourite of my haunts during life have been Hampstead and Ashted Park (near Epsom) and the Fiesolan hills.
