My dear Hunt
There is nothing in the smallest degree absurd or indecent in the application you make, especially as some one seems to have hoax’d you with the notion of my being a Banker! and I only wish that the state of my finance allow’d me to comply with your request. Unfortunately, however, this is not the case, & I therefore return Mr. Moxon’s note of hand, in the hope that you may be more successful in some other quarter. I am glad to find that Copy right is not quite a nullity, tho ite’s nearly so to me, & am not without expectations that it may experience some sort of revival, when the present political ferment is a little

Everybody seem’d to be equally well pleased with it. & I think I may venture to anticipate that both the public & the Profs will deal to you henceforward a more- equal share of justice. I hope your health is quite re-established, & with all friendly wishes, I remain , My dear Hunt , Yours very truly , Horatio Smith . [page break] Leigh Hunt Esqe 5 York Buildings New Road London. |
