Annexed you will find a collection of the Gregorian Hymns at [?Wexford], and the 9th Book in Continuation of the Motetts.
I know you are an Admirer of these wild and Solemn Church Tunes - amongst which I think you will be particularly pleased with the “Lucis Creator” the “Jesu corona Virginum” and the “Pange Lingua” which last is perhaps the finest Hymn in the whole Collection --
Amongst the Motetts, I think I may venture to guess, that the following will be favorites with you - The Bass Solo “Inclina ad me aurem tuam” arranged for Himmel’s “Urania” (Page 6). The “O Crux Ave” by Hayden for its’ expressive Melody of triumphant conclusion, and the Quartett “O Jesu bone Pastor” (Page 17) for its beautiful pastoral simplicity and delicious termination - the [?pasage] contained in the last 8 Bars is one of the sweetest I ever heard, both as to melody & harmony; it haunted me for upwards of a month after I first met with it-which (with me at least) is a sure test of great excellence in a Composition.
