[Ham] Wednesday Morng
Dearest Moll,
In my selfish care for the "goose that lays the golden eggs," I forgot to speak of any body else in my last. Vincent is quite well, & Mary goes on capitally. Her day is filled up with a series of tranquil occupations, & in the intervals she is very merry, & at all times happy. I told Nancy of the secret. To morrow we are to have God knows how many Unitarian clergymen to dinner, with a sprinkling of wives & daughters; so to day there are great preparations going on, of veal & vegetables, & a wonderment what is to be done with all the masticators.-- Though the weather has been very "contrary," I have walked out every day, & explored the neighbourhood. Yesterday I was out some hours, & to day I hope to be more. So you see I do not neglect my duty. Above all, I write nothing but these letters. I shall be at home on Saturday either to dinner or tea, most probably the former;--but you will hear again according to promise by Friday's post. I suppose I shall hear in the mean time. Love to all, especially to yourself, from your ever affectionate husband.
L.H.
Mary has written you [a][1] letter. She is wonderfully improved already in every respect.
