War Office. [London] 16. Decr. 1805.
Dearest Marian,
I should be glad to know whether you would rather see the new comedy or Master Betty this week; the School for Friends is performed on Wednesday and Friday, and the boy acts on Thursday and Saturday. [1] I ask you this, because the earlier places are taken, the better they are likely to be, and I should like to see you perfectly comfortable. You will oblige me by writing this evening or early to morrow morning, so that your letter will reach me before the box office is shut; and you will tell me at the same time how you feel after your late hours last night; I assure you, that if I knew you had the head-ache, it would be felt all the way to Westminster. The canal was crowded with skaiters this morning, but I did not mingle with them: if the frost continues, I shall go tomorrow morning; but you may be satisfied that I shall take the greatest care of myself. I cannot but wish for a long life to shew you the unalterable and fervent affection of your
Henry. [2]
