Monday Nov 2 Dear Madam/ In answer to my several applications in various likely quarters- Lord Holland especially, the Queen has made, or is about to make some donation to the Private List Fund-though not [page break] perhaps having seen our printed List. I do not know about that: consequently I do not know how or who is to receive or apply for the money. Perhaps in Sup’t Talfourd will let you or let me know. At present I should fancy Mr Hunt himself, would have to apply . [page break] As I do not know at all what sum she may give I can not pretend to say a word about increasing the weekly payment, except to place it again at 3£ weekly supposing the sum to be as much as 50£. Of all /all/ beyond 50 (if any beyond) I should propose some further [page break] distribution-either for you to take one fourth of the sum for present emergencies or else to raise the weekly payment to 48-either of these plans, or even both, if it should chance the sum is larger than we anticipate. But pray do not be too sanguine-and do not expect more than 50£. Please to let know as soon as you hear anything further . Yours truly , R.H. Horne. |
