My dear Child
When I wrote to you last respecting Jacinthe return I was obliged to do it in a hurry and could not wait till I was authorised by Mr. Hunter's consent to make a proposition to you that Nancy and myself had agreed on some days before, namely to beg you to let us have Mary instead of Jacinthe, as we heard that you had made up your minds to part from her in order to her going to school. We conclude that in many respects it might be more convenient to you to send her here for a few months, and perhaps, without any vanity on Nancy's part more useful to Mary; she would have Nancy's undivided attention, be perfectly safe, never out of the sight of either her aunt or myself, less dress would be required, and as we get our things washed every week fewer numbers of what she did want would be sufficient; and we feel we would do her more justice than we can, under
