I wrote “Alls Well” outside my very dear Friend, to save you the pang ^as you opened it of thinking you would be expected in your kindness to write any answer- I have felt very anxious about your health- ie the effect of this glorious though overwhelmingly warm weather: on the other hand hopeful that it had agreed with you, as it has with us all or I should not have left home- even though to pay this visit a 39 times repeated one the last 39 years of my life of course to honest & love & warm-hearted friends- of whom I shall say a word or two more before I sign my name, as I think you may be amused to hear of people as singular as the place they live in; a Country Town it is, not a village
