Folkestone April 17/79 My dear Sir , I am engaged in preparing a memoir with a selection from the writings of my uncle the late Albany Fonblanque. In looking over his correspondence I find some letters from members of your family & it may [page break] be that you have preserved some of his which would be useful to me. Mr. Gullivers’ letters on the [?request] of his [?disposal] of the “Examiner” about [ ? ] throw only a very partial light [?upon] those transactions & I wish to be as accurate as possible. - Your name & [ ? ] have been so closely associated [page break] with the Examiner that I am sure you will forgive me for giving you this trouble & for asking you for whatever information it may be in your power to afford in aid of a work which must possess much interest for you. - I return to town early next week & will feel obliged if you will send your answer to [page break] my house -5 Kensington Gate , Believe me my dear sir [ ? ] yours Edw de Fonblanque P.S. I shall be glad if you wish it to restore to you the letters from Leigh Hunt & others of your family. |
