My dear Sir
Your play of The Prince’s Marriage has been read by Mrs Kemble, and myself and it is our opinions, that it would not answer either your purpose, or that of the theater to produce it. -Mr Kemble thinks it better to send it to you at once, and has commissioned me to do so with the kindest note possible -

Theater Royal Covent Gardn 10 Aug. 1842 My dear Sir Your play of The Prince’s Marriage has been read by Mrs Kemble, and myself and it is our opinions, that it would not answer either your purpose, or that of the theater to produce it. -Mr Kemble thinks it better to send it to you at once, and has commissioned me to do so with the kindest note possible - [page break] I cannot say that I think I have well fulfilled my commission, but I know you prefer facts to compliments -and I rely upon your good nature, and futile genius to do for me, what I am incapable of doing for myself -suggest with this communication an accompanyment of all [ ? ] of gracious & palatable expressions to savour the bitter of not considering your play likely to be successful in representation , [page break] notwithstanding much [?ferver] & many beauties -and all you can imagine, will not exceed my wish to shew at all times respect & admiration for you and your talents I am my dear Sir most faithfully yours Geo Bartley Leigh Hunt Esq & & |
