My dear Hunt/
I wrote your Brother, stating that you had said I was not considered, by his family as punctual in money matters. I begged his answer, and he sends me the following; the original of which I shall keep for my own justification. --
"Dear Haydon/
I don't know who /has/ could have done you this wrong, all that I can say is, that I have never found you most careful in fulfilling your pecuniary engagements, and that I have the fullest reliance on your punctuality in such matters
&c. John Hunt
I said to him/
Do you consider me a man who would stand by my Friend in time of adversity to the risk of my own destruction -- he /said/ answered? -- I am sure of it--
Did you ever find inclined to scandal or paltry tattle? -- never was his reply -- Having thus the opinion of one for whom I have with many others an enthusiastic regard it is to me a matter of perfect indifference what you or Mrs. Hunt think ---
