I missed by a few minutes yesterday, the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Howitt at the library; and have since discovered, with due shame, that the disappointment she experienced

necessary to trouble yourself with any notice of this letter. Before many days have past, I shall have the pleasure of entering your doors at Clapton.

P.S. I was going to send the Wheatley to Clapton, but doubted for divers reasons, whether it was the best or most expeditious way of its reaching you, considering diversity of carriers [?]. So it has gone to St. James's Square.
