Lectures on Timely Topics
Comments From the European Press
Liverpool, England, Post
—Dr. Willett is a most fascinating speaker.
Birkenhead, England, News
—The lecture was well attended and greatly appreciated, and Dr. Willett's hearers have agreed that it was a great treat to thoughtful persons, and productive of much intellectual enjoyment. The Doctor's treatment of his subject is so graphic that he seems to carry his listeners in thought right into the situation he pictures. The hope is widely expressed that he will soon be in Birkenhead again.
Southampton, England, Southern Echo
—Dr. Willett is recognized as probably the most popular Bible lecturer in America, and is fast gaining for himself a reputation in this country. The lectures are entirely undenominational, and the courses are being largely attended by all communions. A number of the local ministers are attending every lecture. Dr. Willett is a man of great culture, and the ease and grace with which he speaks add great charm to his scholarly message.
Christian Commonwealth, London, England
—It is rarely, indeed, that one listens to so gifted a speaker as Dr. Herbert L. Willett, who is this week lecturing at the West London Tabernacle, St. James Square. Dr. Willett is of the type of man best exemplified among English preachers, perhaps, by Rev. R. J. Campbell and Mr. Jowett. The beauty of his diction, the steady flow of his words, the mastery of his subject, compel the admiration of his thinking hearer.
Liverpool, England, Echo
—The popular American lecturer, Dr. H. L. Willett, delivered an interesting lecture last night at the Church of Christ in Upper Parliament street. His lecture tour extends over six weeks, a fortnight being spent in London.
Chester, England, Courant
—It is seldom that a Chester audience has an opportunity of listening to a public speaker so highly gifted as Dr. H. L. Willett. Dr. Willett is a comparatively young man, and as a lecturer is probably without a superior in the whole of America. He has a rare faculty of imparting interest and charm to the truths he so forcibly enunciates. A large audience gathered to hear him on Sunday evening. The building was crowded with upwards of a thousand people.
