For two years he was the popular conductor of the Foreign Affairs Conference of the Air on the West Coast … Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the MUTUAL BROADCASTING COMPANY selected him as the outstanding authority to give a half hour's coast-to-coast broadcast of the background of the Pacific Crisis, why it happened as it did … His extemporaneous analysis was so brilliant and clear, a record was made of the talk and it was repeated twice on Sunday and once on Monday.

DR. SYUD HOSSAIN
Many of the Foremost Leaders of Public Opinion as Well as the Press throughout the U.S. Have Hailed Him as One of the Most Brilliant Lecturers on the American Platform Today
DR. SYUD HOSSAIN,
Professor of Oriental Civilization and Special Lecturer on World Affairs at the University of Southern California, recently returned from a year's world tour which embraced Europe, the Near East, India, Burma and the Far East, during which he studied at first hand the tense international situation just before the war.
Dr. Hossain made a special study of the crisis in the Far East. He went into the war zone and personally witnessed the bombing of Canton and the wreckage of Shanghai by the Japanese. He also visited the once great naval base of Singapore. And then on to Japan, where he observed the ominous psychology and drama of a great nation being made a pawn by her militarists.
In India Dr. Hossain had numerous interviews with Gandhi, Tagore, Nehru, Jinnah and the other leaders. In Calcutta and in Rangoon the Prime Ministers, respectively, of Bengal and Burma presided at Dr. Hossain's public lectures.
When he was in England, Dr. Hossain had a three hours' interview with H. G. Wells, besides meeting other significant personalities, including the Marquess of Zetland, then Secretary of State for India. In Egypt he had interviews with the Foreign Minister and the Shaikh-al-Maraghi, tutor of the King and the real power behind the throne, and other notables. In Palestine he met the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and other Arab leaders. At Tel Aviv the Mayor gave a reception for him at which he met important Jewish leaders.
As his first name indicates, Dr. Syud Hossain is a lineal descendant of Mohammed, and comes of an aristocratic family whose Persian ancestors settled in India in the reign of the Emperor Jehangir, and for successive generations were among the premier nobility of the land. In India Dr. Hossain was respectively associate editor and editor-in-chief of The Bombay Chronicle and the Independent of Allahabad, two of the foremost newspapers of the country. In London he was editor of The Official Organ of the Indian National Congress. In New York, for four years, he edited the New Orient magazine, described as one of the most distinguished reviews in the English language. Dr. Hossain was one of three to represent India at the Paris Peace Conference in 1920 for the Near Eastern Peace settlement. At the second Parliament of Religions held in connection with A Century of Progress in Chicago, 1933, he was one of the main speakers. He also was a prominent speaker at the World Fellowship of Faiths in London in the summer of 1937.
Dr. Hossain's brilliant book, GANDHI: THE SAINT AS STATESMAN. has had a wide sale in U. S., England and India. H. G. Wells has said of his latest book, WHAT PRICE TOLERANCE?—
It is clear and magnificent.
