DR. GABOR DE BESSENYEY
An Expert on Postwar Problems, Central Europe and the Balkans
DR. GABOR de BESSENYEY'S military, public and educational background include a higher military education at the Austro-Hungarian Academia Ludovica, two years service with the Inter-Allied Commissions, and graduate studies in the leading continental universities. His doctor's degrees are in Law and Political Science.
Having completed his higher education, Dr. de Bessenyey engaged in a career of journalism which soon brought him to America. For five years he was in the employ of The New York Times, and became a frequent contributor to the periodic press of the United States on political, social and economic subjects.
During the past ten years Dr. de Bessenyey has had several important affiliations, such as executive secretary of the Town Hall of California, professor of government at Fordham University, and director of the Academic Extension Center of New York. He was chairman of the Danubian Congress of 1938 and the Inter-American Congress of 1939. On his frequent European trips, Dr. de Bessenyey has remained in close touch with the leading personalities and trends of our day. At the present time he is professor of government at De Paul University, Chicago. He is also engaged in training postwar administrators for Europe and doing research work for his forthcoming publication on Postwar Liaison.
SOME TESTIMONIALS
Nicholas Murray Butler
A well-rounded, scientific and balanced presentation.
John N. Andrews, Asso. Professor of Education, New York University
All of us were thoroughly pleased with his fine presentation. As a result of his stimulating lecture I am sure we understand the complicated problems of the Balkan regions much more than we ever understood them before.
Grover Cleveland Loud, Editor, Telegraph News, New York Times
His orientation is wholly American and his devoted loyalty to this country is beyond question. One supreme conviction motivating his life is that the U. S. is one nation which can lead the world to democratic freedom. As recent articles in The Times disclose, he is well grounded in the geo-politics of Central Europe. He knows all the languages, dynastic histories, cultures and economic positions of countries in that area. He has chartered for them a union to throw off the Nazi yoke.
William M. McGovern, U. S. N., Combined Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D. C.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Gabor de Bessenyey for many years and on several occasions have listened to him lecture both before academic and non-academic groups. I have always found him a very stimulating and brilliant talker and one who invariably caught the imagination of his listeners.
