Shawmut
MALE QUARTET
JUST as the name Shawmut strikes you as being distinctively different, so the work of the quartet which bears the name will appeal to you.
Around Boston, from which center of musical art the members of this quartet are drawn, the name Shawmut stands for all that is reliable and trustworthy — banks, trust companies, railroads and many other business organizations giving it established prestige.
In musical circles the name is now designed to stand for sterling worth. The members of this quartet have been selected with care, coached with a definite aim of producing a distinctively different program, and are presented with a firm belief that they will more than make good the promise of success which their individual attainments in musical lines assure.
While comparatively new as a Lyceum quartet, the organization is not a company of untried singers. Its members have studied with the finest instructors in Boston, and served a long apprenticeship in quartet singing and solo work in some of Boston's most discriminating churches. They are real singers, inspired with a desire to meet every musical demand, and coached by one of the leading Lyceum coaches of America, Mr. Harry Raymond Pierce. Extended experience on the platform has given Mr. Pierce a thorough knowledge of the kind

of program best adapted to please, and the members of the Shawmut quartet have been coached to present just that kind of program with a vim and dash which earns for it the title of different.
Action songs, a musical sketch, a short play in which all the members of the company appear, supplement a program of quartet and solo numbers which is thoroughly satisfying and delightful.
Attractive as are the ensemble and solo work of the organization, the individual talents of the quartet permit of many combinations

equally effective. In these combinations stringed instruments are used with peculiar charm. Remember the quartet with the distinctive name—Shawmut. It's a quartet with many distinctive qualities.
