CHARLES EAGLE PLUME
Authentic Interpreter of Indian Lore, Life and Culture — America's Foremost Indian Dancer
REDPATH
Charles Eagle PlumeAmerica's Foremost Indian Dancer — Authentic Interpreter of Indian Lore, Life and Culture — a Keen Humorist and a Captivating Entertainer
For many years the white man took it for granted that the Indians he had conquered were uncouth and vulgar savages of bad taste and brutal instincts. Americans went to the far corners of the world to enrich their culture and neglected, till recently, a rich source at their very doors.
INDIANS RE–DISCOVERED
So, the American began to re–discover the Indians. Here was a fresh field for art in designing, in use of color, in pottery and basketry decoration, in textile weaving. What is more, modern art had found a parent. It was also discovered that these primitive people had evolved a system of living where none starved in the midst of plenty. They were a happy people. Graft, corruption, immorality were unknown to them.
A PLATFORM GENIUS
In Charles Eagle Plume the Redpath Bureau has discovered a young platform genius, who, in a genuine, sincere and authoritative way, can interpret Indian life and lore. Wherever he has appeared, they hail him as the greatest Indian, dancer, entertainer and interpreter of the Indian of our day. And, above all, he is one Indian who has a keen sense of humor. He amazes his audience with his sensational dancing. While they chuckle over his wit, he never takes them out of the Indian atmosphere that he puts them into at the beginning of his program.
FROM BLACKFEET TRIBE
Charles Eagle Plume was born and raised in Indian country (Montana) by a French–Indian mother and a German father. From his old grandmother, more than any one else—a member of the Blackfeet Tribe—he got much of his early Indian lore. Eagle Plume is a graduate of the University of Colorado.
THE EAGLE PLUME PROGRAMSMAKING MEDICINEThe Indian's Road To God The Indian As An Artist
MAKING MEDICINE, by Charles Eagle Plume, is the most unique program of its kind ever pre-sented by an interpreter of the American Indian. Eagle Plume, young and handsome, is a captivating speaker with a keen sense of humor and is capable of great dramatic intensity. MAKING MEDICINE consists of a wealth of Indian lore and history, the Indian conquest by the white man. Eagle Plume's songs—(Lover's Sun Dance, Gambling, War, Death)—and dances —(The Chief, Bird–Mating, Wolf, Sweetheart, Medicine Man, Ghost)—are packed full of thrills, romance, beauty and emotion. Each part follows the other smoothly and rapidly. There are many laughs at his good–natured poking fun at the civilized whites but there are tears, also, and much to make lovers of justice bow their heads in shame.
FOREMOST INDIAN DANCER
Eagle Plume has been called America's premier Indian dancer. He has danced since childhood and has learned the dances of many tribes. He knows Indian dancing as few others do today and is interested in saving it from certain oblivion. He believes that the modern dancers can learn a great deal from primitive dances.
COSTUMES — AUTHENTIC, BEAUTIFUL
The costumes which Eagle Plume wears in his programs are all authentic and very valuable. His buck–skin clothes are hand–embroidered in beads, and his bonnets are made of rare eagle feathers. He undoubtedly has the most beautiful Indian costumes of any entertainer on the platform.
Eagle Plume presents the real Indian to a world which has awakened to the Indian's art, but is still ignorant of the Indian himself.
