The Gumps are coming to Chautauqua. They are being brought by their movie dad Don Austin who has made them famous round the world in the pictures. It was while convalescing from war wounds that Don Austin conceived the idea of putting Sid Smith's Gump family into the movies. It was a great success--now he is doing the same thing for Chautauqua.
He draws some of his outstanding "Gump" comedies on three large easels before the audience while two attractive ladies (one of them Miss Austin) add captivating musical spice to the program with piano and accorion.[sic accordion]
It falls to the lot of Don Austin and his "Gump Revue" to open the big assembly this year--and he does it in a way that no former Chautauqua has been opened. It's brand new and universally pleasing.
