World Famous Argentine Sharpshooters In Today's Premiere Safety Program
The School Assembly Service is proud to bring to American audiences the internationally known Argentine Sharpshooters, the Gauchos, from their triumphs in Argentine, Chile, Peru, Mexico, South Africa, England and more recently from the major sportsmen's shows in the United States. It is a program showing the skills which can result from conscientious, frequent practice. It is also one of today's outstanding firearms safety programs.
Efrain Freddy Viderick was born in Billinghurst, State of Buenos Aires, Argentine. His father—born in Plymouth, England—was an expert shooter who taught Efrain on their farm in the Argentine.
Efrain became an expert not only with guns but with whips and ropes and participated in many shooting and whip cracking contests. His daring blind shot brought him such acclaim that he began his professional work as a sharpshooter in the largest vaudeville theatre in Argentine. This act is so unbelievable that we shall not describe it. But you will see it!
His act became a team with his marriage to Anita Fernandez, also born in Argentine. So sensationally successful was their unusual sharpshooting that they have been booked in the major theatres and sportsmen's shows around the world.
They were first brought to the United States to appear in a theatre in New York City eight years ago. Later they became U. S. citizens and Americanized their names for convenience to Fred and Ann Maria Gray.
They appear in gorgeous Argentine Gaucho costumes. It is a fast moving program of precision shooting with emphasis upon safety in the use and handling of firearms — all done in such a manner as to be entertaining.
Safe rules for hunters are emphasized. But the Gauchos rarely hunt, because they do not like to kill.
Many Exhibits Feature Show By Bud Leavitt
The usual opening day attendance viewed the 13th Eastern Maine Sportsmen's Show Monday afternoon and evening at the Bangor Auditorium.
It was a pleasing debut marked by a fast-moving stage show which scored with opening day onlookers.
Firearms fanciers left the Bangor Auditorium last night loud in their praise of one particular act. It was a rifle shooting exhibition featuring a pair of Argentinians identified by the stage title—the Gauchos.
Man, Wife Act
Efrain Freddy Viderick and Ann Maria Viderick are the starry shooters who make The Gauchos a stage click. They're a man and wife act with a knack of bringing down the house.
The Gauchos are real professionals in the sportsmen's show bigtime circuit. They're performed all over the U.S.A., Brazil, Peru, Chile, Mexico, South Africa, Canada, Argentine and England. While it marks their first showing in Bangor, it isn't their first in Maine. Their act scored like bank night at the Waterville Sportsmen's Show.…
Just Naturalized
The Videricks are a pretty happy couple, if a wife can be happy with a husband who makes his living shooting .22 slugs past her pretty features. They've been touring the theatre and bigtime sportsmen's show circuits for fifteen years.
The Gauchos readily admit their biggest thrill in life did not occur on the theatre circuit. It came nine months ago when they stood before the bars of justice and received legal citizenship in the United States.
Freddy and Ann Maria proudly hail that as the biggest thrill of their shooting lifetime—The Bangor News, Maine.
