NINA GORDANI
A gifted entertainer who successfully combines an excellent soprano voice with the delightful art of a diseuse. She has won international acclaim for her song recitals in which she interprets folk songs in many languages and costumes.
NINA GORDANI
An enthusiastic response of praise and enjoyment greets Nina Gordani's performances wherever she appears. The press reviews (some of which are reproduced below) of her picturesque song recitals are eloquent proof that Miss Gordani is an inspired performer.
Nina Gordani was born in New York City where she received the greater part of her musical and academic education. Her debut was made in England where the critics acclaimed her unusual and artistic interpretations. After a command performance before English Royalty, Nina Gordani left for an extended concert tour of the continent, where she also had the opportunity of studying the folk music and mannerisms of the various peoples. Upon her return to America, she was starred in various operettas and presented her own recitals with great success in New York and other principal cities of the United States. For the past several years, she has also been associated with the National Folk Festivals. Her extensive repertoire of folk songs in Italian, French, German, American, English, Spanish and Russian and her knowledge of their tradition makes her an authority on this subject.
Nina Gordani's programs are flexible and adaptable for any audience. One program can be composed entirely of around-the-world characterizations of the allied nations. Another consists of interpretations of Americans who have come from many lands. All her songs are presented in native costumes and interpreted by the gestures and intonations of the characters depicted.
PRAISE AND COMMENT
NEW YORK TIMES:
The unusually wide range of Nina Gordani's linguistic accomplishments were revealed and extended even to the dialects in some of these languages. The diseuse sang well and caught the spirit of the texts with much success.
NEW YORK SUN:
Miss Gordani is enviably gifted as a diseuse. Her voice is trained to be adaptable to her purposes. She made admirable use of gesture and with a clear diction in various tongues and varied facial expression she was very successful in characterization. She charmed further by her graceful stage bearing and attractive costumes.
CHICAGO DAILY NEWS:
Nina Gordani has a good voice and a lovely set of songs, which she delivers with vim and humor of sentiment and melody as her song requires.
BOSTON TRANSCRIPT:
To an exceedingly effective voice, Nina Gordani adds the tricks of hands and face and gesture that point every song. Pretension is not her pitfall. She sticks to songs of the people and whatever their tongue, puts them home.
ENGLAND—LONDON EVENING CHRONICLE:
She possesses in a marked degree the numerous accomplishments necessary for costume singing, for delightful artistry and admirable vocalization were the features of her varied repertoire.
NORTHERN VIRGINIA DAILY:
Nina Gordani displayed her best vocal form, giving out a clear controlled tone whose diminuendos were smooth and satisfying. Her greatest power lay in her dramatic talent. Her sense of timing was keen and her unselfconsciousness a delight.
