SAMUEL E. SPENCER
Intimate Glimpses—Bits of History
Born in a log cabin in the picturesque valley of the Tennessee River, where Nature speaks a varied language and imparts the secrets of life.
Nurtured in the lap of Nature and early impressed by Nature's God.
Stirred by the lash of circumstance, but always stabilized by the gentle touch of parental love.
Began first efforts as a public speaker when fourteen years of age and has been at it ever since.
Worked way through College by writing and selling his own little books, thereby obtaining seven diplomas and five collegiate degrees — proving that a boy with only fifteen cents capital can go to college if he will try with a normal mental effort.
Taught and superintended accredited schools in five states and in the Orient.
Then originated a new system of Mental Culture called Mental Chemistry, whereby the human mind can be seen at its best.
Wrote The Principles of Scientific Success and then demonstrated in the competitive field of big business the practical application of these principles, thus proving their merits. Served as an efficiency expert for three nationally known corporations for the sole purpose of proving that these principles will get definite results.
Resolved to give to the Public the benefits of his long years of study and experiment, thus he lectured and studiously traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, China and the South Sea Islands, and is now scheduled for a tour of Europe, Central and South America. Human service is the dominating influence that leads him.
Proves that the endless struggle among people is a mental struggle first and a physical struggle afterward. Then he proceeds to indicate how that struggle may be made less destructive and more productive of human welfare.
As a school man he knows school problems. As a business man he understands the competitive struggle in business life. As a student of life he can sympathize with the heart interest of the parent. He has a message for all and is the kind of a speaker you can afford to hear more than once.
One leading paper said, Whether Dr. Spencer is being entertained by Princes, or is in the humble companionship of the day laborer, he always leaves some seed thought which grows into human happiness. Delving into the secrets of life he shows why men are shaken by grief, transformed by patriotism, inspired by justice; thus he reveals the causes that have run the entire gamut of extremes during the recent years wherein words have played upon the passions of mankind in a manner without precedent since the beginning of time. He explains that subtle force that stiffens the backbone of faltering armies, fills whole nations with inexpressible joy of prospective freedom and stirs millions to wrath while others are moved to tears. His lectures grip the heart, enliven the mind and cause people to think. Indeed, he brings a real feast.
POPULAR LECTURES
The Immensities of the Inner World
The purpose of this lecture is to give to you absolute command over the greatest realm in all existence—the world of your inner self—a world of endowments, talents, abilities, awaiting your command and proper direction; a world of energies, forces, activities, awaiting your application; a world controlled by laws which you can understand and direct. It introduces you to your real self and you are never the same kind of a person after that introduction, because it arouses you to action which brings peace, progress and plenty. Personal Magnetism, the Magic Powers of Desire, Faith that wins, the limitless source of Spiritual Power, your Reasoning Power, your Regenerative ability, are all woven into this lecture in a logical way and they grip and hold your attention in a way that makes an impression for life. Dr. Spencer, in his own characteristic way, transforms your thoughts into a ladder leading up to superb Mansions of the Mind, where landlords molest not, where light has no meter, where heat is not consumed gold, and where sugar is sweet memories. He will nurture your mind with great thoughts and demonstrate that from the Garden of Your Mind no power on this earth, outside yourself, can ever eject you.
Principles of Scientific Success
This lecture is dedicated to those who have failed, wholly or in part; to those whose dream-ships have gone down in the relentless sea of distress; to those who feel themselves sinking, with hearts faint from hoping, with eyes weary from watching, with feet tired from long marching, with hands dropping from endless service; that they may tap anew the Universe of Limitless Possibilities, come back to crowning success, reduce the high cost of living and loving, then do their work in this great world so well that a lecture of this kind will not even be necessary. This lecture will inspire you with right thinking, that you may awaken within yourself that divine force which THINKS, UNDERSTANDS, WILLS, ACTS, CREATES, REVEALS, and glorifies those things which can never die. It directs your mind that it may become a limitless source of joyous energy attracting to you and all around you health, material prosperity, and supreme happiness. This is a lecture for both old and young. One lady said recently, I would not have missed that lecture for one hundred and fifty dollars.
Laughter and Living
Like a ray of sunshine this lecture comes to brighten the lives of those who hear it. In it Dr. Spencer quickly swings from the work of a heavy thinker to the duties of a professional funny man. Yet, in the midst of the laughter he brings living, sparkling, stimulating bits of philosophy which cannot fail to make people think. He proves that there is life in laughter and laughter in life and when he has finished you wonder why it is that you have not enjoyed life more. It drives the blues away, brings the natural pink to your cheeks and develops a real appetite for the kind of happiness that is easily in reach of everybody. It will make YOU happy.
