THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO CANES
figure left
figure right
Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Dear Friend:
A couple of years ago I started collecting canes as a hobby and soon became fascinated with the enterprise. Before long canes came in from all parts of the world with enchanting narratives and challenging interest. Canes have come from historic places, famous personages and unique experiences. Many sticks have been cut with my own jack-knife during my travels. This collection of canes forms the background of this message:
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO CANES
Since starting this hobby I have spoken in a score of states — in churches and schools; before patriotic organizations and social clubs, and in many other places. The thing that has been most noticeable is the fact that this message is enjoyed by all ages and both sexes at the same time. It is peculiarly adapted to mixed audiences. The children do not fall asleep while the adults listen attentively. The message lends itself to emphasizing the greatest truths in the universe.
Please communicate with me for dates and terms. Advertising matters is supplied by me.
Yours truly,
Edward L. Jeambey

To Whom It May Concern:
The Reverend Edward L. Jeambey spoke at our chapel Monday on his interesting and instructive hobby - - - canes and sticks. If I may judge from the enthusiastic response of our students, I am quite certain that this is a talk they will long remember. Mr. Jeambey combines spontaneity of speech with a ready wit. While the talk is highly entertaining it carries a real message.
I have heard the talk twice and enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first!
