RALPH NIELSEN,
 Chicago's brilliant and popular radio tenor, has a wide following in the Middle West, and it will be good news to many concert and oratorio lovers that this gifted young singer again will be available for a number of engagements.




Possessing a natural lyric tenor voice of rare quality, he can, when the occasion demands, sing with a depth of dramatic power and intensity that is most telling.  Add to this good musicianship, excellent stage appearance and personality appeal—it's small wonder that he has become a top-flight singing star in radio, concert and oratorio.




A veteran of nearly four years in the Army Air Corps as a B-25 radar-radio operator, Mr. Nielsen returned to civilian life with a definite goal—
to create a musical career.
  His hopes have been realized, his progress has been little short of meteoric.  Mr. Nielsen is the tenor soloist at the First Presbyterian Church, Oak Park, under direction of Dr. Edgar Nelson.




ORATORIO & CONCERT



Appearances throughout the Middle West, including four Orchestra Hall performances in Oratorio with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Apollo Club, Swedish Choral Club, etc.).  He has a record of ten 
Messiah
 performances in 1948; eleven in 1949, and probably will exceed that number for 1950.  In May, 1950, he was soloist with the Swedish Choral Club in Mozart's 
Grand Mass in C-Minor.
  He was soloist, March, 1950, in 
B-Minor Mass
 at Bach Festival, Kalamazoo, Mich.  The famed Mendelssohn Club has used him twice as soloist—1948 and 1950.  There also have been recent performances of Verdi's 
Requiem,
 Rossini's 
Stabat Mater,
 
Elijah,
 
Crucifixion,
 etc.




RADIO & TELEVISION



Ralph Nielsen has to his credit more than six hundred solo appearances over NBC, ABC, MBS, WGN, WCFL, and WMBI.  He is a regular guest soloist on 
Treasury of Music
 (WCFL).  He was starred on WGN-Mutual's Chicago Theater of the Air in 
Firefly,
 
Babes in Toyland,
 and 
Pinafore.
  His own program, 
Songs of the Heart
 (WMBI) has been very popular.  Numerous television appearances over NBC network.




OPERA



Mr. Nielsen made his operatic debut before 130,000 as Goro in two performances of 
Madame Butterfly
 at the Grant Park Concerts, Erich Leinsdorf, conductor.
