PRESENTS

C.M.A. STANDARD
MANAGEMENT OF CHAUTAUQUA MANAGERS ASSOCIATION, Orchestra Building, Chicago
Franklin R. Beery, Lecturer
FRANKLIN R. BEERY is of the type of men who have brought their native state of Kansas to the front. He began his public speaking career when only a boy in William Jewell College. He has been in the ministry continuously since seventeen years of age, and is today only in the first year of his fourth pastorate; all of which have been in the front rank of Kansas pulpits. During his ministry the calls have been heavy upon him for his services in evangelistic work in his state. His success in this field was so great that he is today counted as one of the best evangelists in the country.
Mr. Beery has always been a Chautauqua and Lyceum supporter. He believes intensely in both as institutions for the advancement of humanity and the building up of communities. He has, perhaps, managed more Chautauqua programs in the last six years than any other man in all the West. He often says he has six good reasons for his appearance on a program—the first five, a wife and four children; the sixth reason is, he believes the community needs him.
Beery has made good through adversity. He has progressed in spite of many difficulties, and has reason to be proud of his Master's Degree from the University of Hard Knocks. Nature has endowed him with a fine strain of humor, springing from a great fountain of optimism, that makes him a Modern Apostle of Sunshine. He has a burning passion to help people see that life is really worth while.
This Kansan leader is a young man with a great future before him. He has a vision that is as broad as the possibilities of the human soul. He has few equals as a conversationalist and as a public speaker; he talks as easily to three thousand as to one person; a born leader of men, and a thorough organizer. Your community will be helped, at whatever the cost, if you have Beery on your program.

New things in the physical world. New things in the church world.
THE MAN WHO WINS or THE PRICE OF VICTORY
A real live message. Especially designed for young people.
BLEACHING THE BLUES
Why life sometimes seems blue, and how to get over it. Pushing back the clouds and seeing the other side.

The Church's Business.
Besides the lectures, Rev. Beery has a group of sermons called the Kingdom Series. These are designed for an entire assembly. They have been heard by many thousands of people in Chautauqua audiences in the past three seasons throughout the Central West. Many words of praise and appreciation have been received concerning these sermons.
Words of Appreciation from Fellow Chautauqua Lecturers
To Chautauqua Committeemen:—
I had the exceedingly great pleasure to be associated with Mr. F. R. Beery last summer on the Horner Chautauqua System. I want to tell you that he's got the stuff in him. He's the kind of a man the lyceum and Chautauqua need. He has something that ought to be said and knows how to say it so that people do not go to sleep. Beery has fought his way up and knows what it means. He speaks, therefore, as one having authority and not as the Scribes and the Pharisees. I am glad that the people are going to get a chance to hear this John the Baptist of a New Day, for he is not a reed shaken by the wind, but a positive voice.
And as Markham said of Lincoln, I say of Beery,
She (Nature) took the dried clay of the common road,
Warm yet with genial heat of earth,
Dashed thru it all a strain of prophesy,
And mixed a LAUGHTER with the serious stuff.
William Rainey Bennett, Chicago, Illinois.
Dear Friend Beery:—
I believe in you. I believe in you because I know you are trying, working, studying, overcoming. I know you have enthusiasm and ability, and they get us onward. I have always felt that you are to lead men with your brain, your heart and your voice. You have made good thus far. Go on! The world needs enthusiastic young leaders like you.
Your friend always, Ralph Parlette.
Chautauqua Committeemen:
The first time I heard F. R. Beery speak, I said to myself, there is a fellow that has the punch, the mental and physical punch, and he ought to be on the platform where he will have the freedom. It was not very long afterwards until I had a chance to talk with him, and I confided to him the suspicion I had concerning his platform power.
It is with a great deal of pleasure that I learn Mr. Beery has finally decided to answer the platform call that has been thumping at his soul for many a year.
The public will get something when it gets Beery, if he lives up to his symptoms.
Sincerely, Thomas Brooks Fletcher.

What the Press and Public Say About Beery
On Tuesday afternoon promptly at 2:55, Rev. F. R. Beery, Sterling Chautauqua Superintendent of Garnett, Kansas, opened the local assembly with a few brief remarks on the Chautauqua and its purpose. Mr. Berry, though he has been with us but a few days, is a man who will quickly make friends anywhere, and Sterling is proving no exception. We can say without hesitation that he is making the most popular superintendent that we have had with us since the inauguration of Chautauqua here several years ago.—
The Sterling (Colo.) Enterprise.
Mr. Beery's view of life is of that optimistic strain that makes us feel that this old world is a good old place to live—Texas or any place else. He believes in people—also in the Chautauqua because it is of the people, that it is the community platform and an institution, the backing of which brings out the real genuine fibre of manhood. He says the men who back the Chautauqua and put up the guarantee are preaching the gospel just the same as he does from the pulpit. He is meeting the people of Teague and will help in every way to create a greater Chautauqua spirit.—
The Teague (Texas) Daily Herald.
Mr. Beery is a clear earnest talker, who knows the points he wishes to make, and how to make them. He gave a very forcible talk last night and closed with a few words of advice and good wishes to the members of the graduating class.—
The Daily Blade—Concordia, Kansas.
It was very fortunate indeed that Wellington secured the services of Rev. F. R. Beery, the superintendent of the Chautauqua. The Redpath-Horner people could not have found the superior of Beery. He is a star, is every inch a man, a hard worker, not only for the Chautauqua management, but for the local people of Wellington and for everybody. He never meets a stranger, he always has a friendly grasp of the hand ready, he is an able man and efficient in his work.
Wellington is to be congratulated in having Beery with us all during the Chautauqua, for he was the man to pull through one of the finest Chautauquas in Kansas. If there is a town in Kansas that had a better time, a better Chautauqua than Wellington had this year, we have not heard from them. We don't believe there is a better manager than Beery. He is a prince of men, a fine scholar, a scholarly teacher of morals, of everything that is good and pure.—
Mount Pleasant, Texas.
The sermon by Rev. F. R. Beery, pastor of the First Baptist Church, was a most excellent address to the graduating class and most elevating to all who heard it. Mr. Beery is at his best in the performance of such a duty and his talk on Sunday night has never been excelled in this city.—
Daily Kansan (Concordia) Kansas
Manager F. R. Beery of the Chautauqua, delivered a fine address last Sunday afternoon on The Price of Victory, in which he showed that all that men secure in life that is worth the winning must be paid for in some way. It was an inspiring, practical talk, designed more especially for young people and many of them were heard to say that it was one of the best features of the Chautauqua. Mr. Beery knows and loves young people and is sincerely in earnest in trying to benefit them. Monday afternoon, Mr. Beery spoke on That Boy. He analyzed a boy as being composed of ten per cent fidget, fifty per cent fight, thirty per cent feeling, and ten per cent fun. He gave some very striking thoughts on how to reach and help boys.—
Mount Pleasant, Texas.
