AL SWEET'S
CHICAGO CADETS
A Band and Glee Club
AL SWEET knows what the public wants and gives it to them, says the Detroit Free Fress. Al Sweet who has made his Singing Band famous has again rung the bell of popular approval in presenting to the amusement-loving public his CHICAGO CADETS, a lively young aggregation of Instrumentalists and Singers. Sixteen clean-cut manly young college chaps comprise an extraordinary Band and Glee Club. They play and they sing and they feature all sorts of entertaining novelties. A saxophone quartette, marimbaphone, vocal solos, instrumental solos and smashing choruses. Fresh young voices trained to perfect harmony blend together in one glorious ensemble and sing with all the zest and spirit and daring of unrestrained youth. The organization is the personification of musical variety and gives programs that are showy and full of melody and color. Set out to advantage in brand new swagger uniforms of cadet grey with belts and boots and military trappings, they present a snappy and striking appearance.
The director of this unique and up-to-the-minute bunch is EVERETT JOHNSON, who has won his spurs under the tutelage of Al Sweet as assistant director and cornet soloist with Al Sweet's Singing Band for the past five years. Mr. Johnson has all the requirements of a successful leader. Young and good to look at in his spanky uniform, he is not only a thorough musician who knows his business, but he directs with an authority and conviction that wins instant approval and enthusiasm.
THE CHICAGO CADETS are the embodiment of the Spirit of the Age. DASH—SNAP—PEP—SPEED. Glorious, care-free youth, expressing itself through the music of the day. The latest songs—the latest tunes, played and sung with that lilting, haunting syncopation that banishes Father Time and dispels the gods of gloom.
