AN IMPORTANT NEED MET
MANY citizens of all races have been anxious to establish one of the finest forums in the country in what is known as the
Black Belt
. There is none that met the demands of authorities on
Adult Education
. Hence, last autumn with the initiative of a few and the cooperation of some fifteen colored and white forums the
Greater Southside Forum
or the
Southside Lyceum
was formed last September sponsoring meetings at National Pythian Temple, Metropolitan Community Center, later at Igoe Hall and Good Shepherd Congregational Church.
Cooperating patrons are some of the foremost citizens of Chicago, Gary, Evanston and Milwaukee seek to broaden horizon of adults and students who cannot seek a higher education; a free meeting ground of all races, presentation of the ablest leaders in every field of activity and to stimulate citizens to independent thinking, discussion and research.
If the Southside is to enjoy the profits of the ever-increasing resources of scholarship then it is your forum because of your presence, suggestions and financial support so the best can be given and Scholarship Fund raised.
