The name of Elsie Baker, her superb singing and radiant personality have thoroughly embedded themselves as an integral part of American life.

This truly remarkable artist combines a voice of velvety smoothness, range and power with a rare soul-satisfying interpretation of every song she sings, whether it be sad or gay; classical or semi-popular.

Miss Baker's versatility of musical expression is unexcelled anywhere and the happiness she is continually bringing to the home through the medium of her many beautiful Victor Talking Machine Records places her, unquestionably, in a most enviable position in the musical life of this country.

For many years constant appearances in concert, oratorio, and with the leading symphony orchestras have carried her into every state of the union. Re-engagements too, have but served to increase her popularity.

These successes have in nowise spoiled Miss Baker and she stands as a splendid type of fine American womanhood risen to musical heights by sterling qualities of mind and character upon which true accomplishment in any walk of life can only be attained.

As a well known musical critic recently remarked, Elsie Baker does not belong to any particular class or locality of this country; rather, she belongs to the nation.



GROVER TILDEN DAVIS COMPOSER - PIANIST
Grover Tilden Davis, the accompanying artist with Miss Baker, is an unusually gifted musician.

Mr. Davis is the composer of many beautiful songs and has had a wide experience as the director of two schools of music, in addition to teaching activities.

As a vocal coach, many well-known artists have studied and performed under his able direction.

He has endeared himself to the American public through the medium of a fine pianistic art, his playing being especially characterized by a sheer beauty of tone and enhanced by a masterful interpretative faculty.



NEARLY TEN THOUSAND CHAUTAUQUAS
Approximately 9600 chautauquas will be held this season in the United States and Canada.  Few progressive cities and towns in North America are without this annual source of worth while diversion.  A very large percentage of circuit chautauquas are operated by the Redpath Company which serves this community each season.

That the chautauqua is becoming more firmly established as a public institution is indicated by the fact that in 1924 there are being conducted in this territory more Redpath programs than in any previous year.

The chautauqua's older brother, the lyceum, was established in its modern form by James Redpath in 1868.  Associated with him in those early days were such platform celebrities as John B. Gough, Henry Ward Beecher, Oliver Wendell Holmes, James Russell Lowell and Wendell Phillips.

In 1905 Keith Vawter, a Redpath director, originated and put into practical operation the circuit chautauqua idea.  Since that time Redpath chautauquas have presented the leaders in thought and action, in music and the other arts, to thousands of American communities.

In line with this policy the Redpath management is presenting this season the justly celebrated American contralto, Miss Elsie Baker, in the quality program listed on the opposite page.

It will interest chautauqua patrons to know that Redpath offices are maintained in Columbus, Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Birmingham, Denver, Los Angeles, Rochester, N. Y., Orlando, Fla. and Toronto, Canada.
