Mr. Patterson's address was a remarkable effort. No one who looked at the small figure on the platform, with its boyish face, and had not heard him before, could have suspected for a moment that such power was hidden behind. Yet from the moment he began, Mr. Patterson captivated his audience, whether it was with inimitable Irish wit or with pathos that wrung the heart.
