CHARLES BOGGS Bass-Baritone
THE season of 1927-28 witnessed the coming of one of America's latest additions to the stellar realms of Grand Opera, emerging from the Concert field into major roles in Opera.
Charles Boggs, Bass-Baritone, has an enviable record as a concert artist, and has appeared in his chosen art throughout the United States. Then came operatic recognition. The critics discovered in him that very rare type of voice, a true operatic bass-baritone, with resonance sufficient to fill the largest auditorium, but with the experienced concert mezzo voce seldom found in an opera singer.
Mr. Boggs possesses a most versatile voice, a remarkable range from low D flat to a perfectly produced high A flat, brilliance and clarity in the high register, resonance and cello-like mellowness in the middle and low tones, with pure diction in English, Italian and other languages, which coupled with splendid musicianship, a dramatic temperament and delightfully pleasing personality, supported by an enormous repertoire ranging from the heights of opera to simple folk songs, enable this native American artist to tug at the heartstrings of his auditors in a moment of pathos and in another instant bring tears of happiness, and smiles of joy.

* The management is deviating from the old press quotation routine as it is believed that modern business methods demand direct personal expressions from those who know first hand the work of the artist. The name and address of each person quoted above will be gladly furnished sponsors of concerts, upon request in order that inquiry may be made by letter direct. For local newspaper advertising purposes the management will furnish press stories as near your locality as available.
