PARLIAMENTARY LAW PHYSICAL CULTURE BIBLE TALKS
IN the beginning of the Spanish-American War, a young mother with no knowledge of her power as an orator, stepped into the pulpit of a large and fashionable church, in the absence of Chaplain Varney—and the world discovered a great woman speaker in Mrs. Mecca Marie Varney.
She filled that trying position until the close of the war and afterward answered as many of the calls to preach and lecture as her home cares would permit.
Today she stands in the first rank of women speakers—she possesses a clear beautiful voice that is distinctly womanly. She has the culture and refinement that come from college training and constant study. From a happy home and a joyous motherhood she stands ready to champion the cause of woman on a high and beautiful plane. Her work is free from manishness and rant. Science, sociology and mother love form the basis of her wonderful pleas.
In Parliamentary Law she is an expert, not only as a possessor of knowledge, but in the ability to impart the same. In Chautauqua work she is often assisted by her young son Charles, who is an excellent example of a presiding officer.
In Physical Culture, Mrs. Varney is her own best exponent. The teacher reveals the excellence of the teaching.
