RICHARD D. HUGHES
Lecturer-Traveller
RICHARD D. HUGHES
THE strength and popularity of the lectures by Richard D. Hughes rest upon his sincerity. He adds philosophy and a fine fund of humor to his addresses, which are popular in character, as well as informative.
He has traveled from one end of Europe to the other, has covered the battlefields of the war zone, having lectured through the camps of the A. E. F. in 1919. He has ambled about in Africa, has studied the Bedouin Arab, has visited Italy and spent much time in England.
He has studied life and institutions in all these places and not only has a wonderful fund of interesting gossip gathered from the far-away corners of the globe but a wealth of beautiful pictures that he has taken during his travels.
Through his years of experience on the rostrum he has cultivated a style which is eloquent, and his voice possesses a resonant quality that carries his message to the hearts of his hearers with the cadence of music.
Now at the very prime of his life he brings to the lecture platform a rich experience accumulated from travel, active experience in a large city, and the training of our best institutions of learning.
Though a patriot he does not make patriotism his main theme. His ambition is to educate and inspire, to dispel the clouds and enlarge the horizon and vision of daily life.
There are few speakers so well fitted by temperament, education, travel and experience to so thoroughly charm, entertain and instruct any audience before which he may appear.

THE LURE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
Dream Pictures in Color and Song
Those looking for something unique and unusual, will find in this lecture that very thing. It is a full program in itself, blending in word, picture and song the story of the Blue Mediterranean, where history began and the romance and color of the old world still lingers. The ancients believed the Mediterranean to be the
Center of the Universe.
Geographically they were wrong; but for history, romance, art, poetry and religion, they named this beautiful blue sea better than they had thought. Along its shores we hear the silvery temple bells of the East and the lilting call to prayer of the Muezzin and watch the caravans of the Arabs come out of the desert.
