REPERTOIRE
Miss Beeman created an immediate impression through a potent and winning personality. She gave one of the best performances I have ever heard of Schubert's Death and the Maiden, and went through all the exceedingly difficult passages of Furibondo, a furious affair of runs roulades and enormous breath control, with flying colors.—
Edward C. Moore, Chicago Daily Journal
Miss Beeman's voice is a phenomenal one—a luscious contralto of great range and power. She is an artist to her finger tips. From operatic aria to simple folk song she held her audience enthralled; and her hearers left feeling they had been given something vital and permanent to take away with them.—
Journal Standard, Freeport, Ill.
Miss Beeman is possessed of musical feeling and good taste. To her songs evidently are not mere pegs upon which to hang meretricious qualities of effect.—
Felix Borowski, Chicago Herald
Miss Bertha Beeman has a contralto voice of wide range and ample volume and she has her vocal means under good control. She has a wide range of dynamic values from pianissimo to fortissimo. She has depth of feeling and the singing was earnest and sincere, always with fine appreciation governed by refined taste.—
Karleton Hackett, Chicago Evening Post.
Miss Beeman's understanding of her art is that of the trained and intelligent musician, to whom singing means more than mere tone or the superficial beauty of timbre unadorned. She has discretion, brains, sincerity, breadth of interpretative vision and kindred attributes artistic.—
Herman De Vries, Chicago American
Miss Beeman has a very unusual voice; it is one of large proportion, well handled and of appealing quality.—
New York Musical Courier
Miss Beeman's voice is a powerful one of rare beauty and a wealth of tone color unusual in a contralto; yet her charm as a singer is due to her magnetic personality and a musicianly and powerful dramatic interpretation as much as to mere vocal beauty.—
Ripon Press, Wis.
The appearance of Miss Beeman must be recorded as an occurance of distinct artistic significance. She possesses an exquisite contralto voice which she uses faultlessly.—
Chicago Abendpost
Miss Beeman's tonal quality was beautiful at all times. Her musical sense is a very accurate and refined one.—
Music News, Chicago, Ill.
Miss Beeman's voice is one of most unusual quality, strength, beauty and sonorousness, and the art of the singer is shown in all she undertakes.—
Musical Leader, Chicago, Ill.
Miss Beeman's success was unqualified. She is a singer who can sing big things in a big way. One of her greatest gifts is the power to put an emotional mood across the footlights to the audience.—
Evanston Daily News, Evanston, Ill.
Miss Beeman possesses a rich and dramatic contralto voice, a pleasing personality and a gracious manner.—
San Diego Union, San Diego, Cal.
