REDPATH BUREAU
JILL EDWARDS
Through Tears and Laughter She Leads Her Audience
to a Fresh Grip on Life
JILL EDWARDS
is a gay, whimsical, intimate and altogether delightful speaker. She brings to the lecture platform a rich and varied experience. Daughter of missionaries, she was brought up in China. She has traveled extensively, having been around the world three times. This background enables her to illustrate her lecture-recitals profusely with anecdotes from various parts of the world, with legends, stories and poetry. As one newspaper comment put it—
Through tears and laughter she leads her audiences to a fresh grip on life and its most profound meaning.
A Noted Radio Star
In her professional life, Jill Edwards is the Jill of the
Jill and Judy
team which appeared over the National Broadcasting Company network for fourteen months. In the spring of 1933
Jill and Judy
became the World's Fair Reporters over the Columbia Broadcasting System.
Develops Personality Through Speech
Jill Edwards is also a teacher. After her graduate training in the School of Speech of Northwestern University, she took charge of the work in Public Speaking at the Education Studio of the Central Y. M. C. A. At the present time Jill Edwards is conducting a number of classes in
Personality Development Through Speech
among club women with marked success.
In private life, Jill Edwards is the wife of Davis Edwards of the University of Chicago and the mother of three charming children.
The Jill Edwards LecturesThe Valiant Life
Do we have to develop at random the sport of circumstances, or is there a definite technique by which one may develop a full, rich, well-rounded personality? There is such a technique. This is Jill Edwards' most popular lecture-recital. Mrs. Percy V. Pennybacker, past president of the National Federation of Women's Clubs, said of this talk:
I wish every woman in the country could hear that.
So Much Velvet
This lecture-recital follows
The Valiant Life.
It contains more Oriental legends, more tears and more laughter and another tiny touch of inspiration. No matter what life brings to a complete person in the unfolding of his own individual design, he is lucky to have had a chance at it—it's all so much velvet.
Who Pays the Fiddler?
The one who pays the fiddler has a right to call the tunes. Are you sure you're getting the tunes which you really want?
Must Men March?
A powerful plea for universal peace.
Adventuring with Jill and Judy
A program on radio technique. How Jill and Judy broke into the radio; how they prepare their scripts. Intimate glimpses behind the scenes of the big broadcasting companies.
Making a Peacock's Tail Out of a Broomhandle
How to have forceful, charming speech.
Nimble Servitors
Many people are slaves of a few words. How to take charge of words and make them work for us effectively.
Pushing Out Horizons
Readings from poetry and prose which have helped Jill Edwards to push out her horizons and given her room to breathe.
You, Yourself, Incorporated
How to overcome stage fright and self-consciousness. How to overcome the inferiority complex and to take oneself for granted. First lecture of a series of twelve on
Personality Development Through Speech.
Class Work in Personality Development Through Speech
Because of numerous requests for
more along this line
Jill Edwards has formed classes in various club localities in
Personality Development Through Speech.
Under the sympathetic guidance of a trained teacher of speech, one learns the art of simple, unaffected self-expression. Individual designs unfold as one learns how to stand, how to walk, how to use the voice, how to acquire poise and presence, how to organize ideas and to project them effectively before one person or a group.
Jill Edwards Appreciations
The Uptown Players, Chicago
Jill Edwards' manner is so charming and human—her intimacy so delightful. I'd been feeling blue that day and the spiritual essence which she diffused reached out to me and gave me just the impetus I needed.

Just a word of appreciation for the lovely program Jill Edwards brought to our girls last week.

—E. T. M.
Peoria, Ill, Women's Club
Not only has Mrs. Edwards a charming and captivating personality, but she has an exceptional ability as a speaker. She was received by the Peoria Women's Club with a warmth seldom accorded a lecturer here.
—B. M. H.
Arché Club, Chicago
The Arché Club was delighted and each woman present took to heart the inspiring message. So many women are going through deep waters of adversity. Your buoyant spirit caught them and gave new impetus to their days to come.
