Visualized in elaborately costumed Dramatic Reading and fascinatingly depicted in exquisite illustrated lectures by
FREDERIC POOLE
The world-wide traveler and noted authority on Things Chinese
THE GREAT WALL
AT THE MING TOMBS
VENICE IN CHINA
MODERN CHINESE TROOPS
China, Ancient and Modern
DR. POOLE'S pictorial descriptions of China are regarded as classics among illustrated lectures.
His life long experience among the Chinese enables him to speak with authority, while a recent tour of eight months through the Provinces of China as guest of the Viceroy's provided him with an opportunity to secure a wealth of illustrated material in color views and motion pictures that are not only unique and exclusive, but full to the last minute with valuable imformation of vast importance at this particular time.
A glimpse of Ancient China is secured as Pekin, its hoary capitol, is explored and as the scenes of the late Emperor's funeral pass by, one is made to realize that this was the dividing line between the Old and the New and the story merges into a marvelous portrayal of the Modern advancement of the newly awakened China, as views of modern highways, railroads, factories, schools and the reorganized army are flashed upon the screen.
China's historic spots are visited. The Great Wall is seen, now penetrated by the Railroad and the colossal images at the Ming Tombs are silent tributes to the valor and achievements of centuries gone by
Realizing the importance of having the true situation in China made known to the American public the highest officials of China to whom he was introduced by the Chinese Legislation, including the present ruler of China, vied with each other to open the doors of opportunity. that Dr. Poole might secure this valuable material and which is now proving to be such a startling revelation to the people of this land.
This story has made Dr. Poole famous on the lecture platform and invariably results in a call for his return.
Among the many important centers he has visited are:
Pittsburg Academy of Science and Art 13 times
New Bedford, Mass. 15 times
University Extension Society. Phila. 8 times
Academy of Music, Phila. 8 times
Tremont Temple, Boston, 4 times
Academy of Natural History, Buffalo, 4 times
After his appearance before the American Geographical Society of New York, Feb. 29th 1916, Mr. Levi Holbrook, the Secretary wrote,
My dear Dr. Poole,
From all quarters I have been hearing that your recent lecture before the Geographical Society on China, was the most interesting of the season.
Picturesque Panama and the Canal
CULEBRA CUT
DR. POOLE'S story of Panama is the most up to date lecture on that subject now before the public, his third trip to the Isthmus under U. S. Government auspices being taken in May 1916 and he returns with valuable information and illustrations of Uncle Sam's state of PREPAREDNESS on the Isthmus. This opens up the question of a possible Far Eastern menace to U.S. interests in the Pacific.
It is a story of not only Locks. Excavations and mighty engineering skill, but human interest and native Jungle life, which in beautiful color views and exclusive and original motion pictures present a wonderful comprehensive and delightfully entertaining view of America's greatest achievement and the picturesque beauty of South America.
Carnegie Hall was packed to the doors and four hundred turned away at Dr. Poole's second lecture on Panama—
Pittsburg Dispatch.
The Grand Canyon and the Panama-Pacific Exposition
FROM the mightiest natural wonder in the world to the greatest and most beautiful international exposition ever produced is the subject of this lecture.
In magnificently colored views the beauties and the awsome mysteries of the Grand Canyon are revealed and then in quick contrast the highest achievements of human endeavor are witnessed in the charming scenes of the San Francisco Exposition. An artificial city of unparalled beauty, the host, for a year, of the nations of the world, has now passed away for ever, but its marvelous architectural wonders, its artistic charms, its joyous Zone and its fascinating electrical NIGHT ILLUMINATIONS are preserved for the thousands who did not see them, in this beautiful and enchanting story of THE WORLD AT THE GOLDEN GATE.

A Chinese Dramatic Reading
of intense unique interest and delightful charm is the story of the first act of
THE YELLOW JACKET
Given with the approval of the authors, Geo. C. Hazelton and Benrimo and by special permission of
MR. and MRS. CHARLES D. COBURN
proprietors and owners of all acting and reading rights
IN the production of The Yellow Jacket Mr. Geo. C. Hazelton and Benrimo have given to the world at large a most captivating insight into the curious manner of Chinese methods of entertainment that are absolutely true to native ideals and which is now being presented exclusively in the United States by Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Coburn and their excellent company with unqualified success.
By the gracious consent of the authors and owners of The Yellow Jacket, Dr. Poole enjoys the privilege of reading the first act of this unusual and remarkable production and by reason of his long residence in China,, his through familiarity with the Chinese, their customs and language, he is able, with absolute and unusual fidelity, to invest this charming story with the true Chinese atmosphere so that the quaint characters live before the audience and the scenes which are not are visible to all.
It is a story that runs the whole gamut of the human emotions, is replete with pathos, tragedy wholesome humor, and as a Dramatic Reading, has been universally pronounced to be the most winsome, attractive and appealing of all such play interpretations.
Dr. Poole appreciates most highly the confidence reposed in him by the authors and owners of the Yellow Jacket in being permitted the exclusive privilege of reading in this Chinese Dramatic form the scenes from the first act of a play that is delighting thousands in America and which has been translated into the languages of seven foreign countries.
This fascinating and enchanting interpretation of the Chinese Drama is in great demand by Women's Clubs and lecture bureaus of the highest quality.
The President of the CANTABRIDGIA CLUB, BOSTON, writes:-
My dear Dr. Poole,
The members of the Cantabridgia Club were unanimous in their expressions of delight over your program.
It is very seldom that all members find pleasure in the same thing, but your Chinese Dramatic Reading is not only unique and entertaining, but educational as well, so those who came for entertaiment and those who wished to add to their store of knowledge were equally satisfied.
I heartily commend your rendering of Scenes from the first act of The Yellow Jacket to the program committees of other clubs.
Sincerely yours, Grace C. Sanborn, President Canatbridgia Club
