EMINENT AMERICAN TENOR AND SUPPORTING ARTISTS
IN presenting Mr. Harold Procter, the eminent American tenor, and supporting artists, Miss May Rees, violinist, and Miss Fleta Lawrence, pianist, the Redpath Bureau predicts that every community which enjoys an artist trio of extraordinary attainments, acknowledged ability and superior accomplishments, will find this company meeting or surpassing every expectation.
Mr. Harold Procter has sung throughout the British Isles, singing in concert and oratorio under such men as Hans Richter, Gaul and other great English composers and conductors and in company with the leading singers of England. He later traveled throughout the United States in companies headed by Kitty Gordon, Fritzie Scheff and Charlotte Greenwood. For two years he was tenor soloist at The Temple Baptist Church, Los Angeles, the largest church west of the Mississippi.
His voice is one of rare beauty and power, soft to a degree in gentler cadences and yet vibrant with power in stronger passages. London papers have spoken of his voice being like a ribbon of gold and a tenor of golden supremacy. All of his numbers are rendered with the same refinement and sweetness of tone. He speaks his words with a most uncommon purity, words on high tones bing as plainly understood as those in the lower registers.
Miss May Rees is of Welsh descent, coming from a noted musical family. She has studied with the masters of both America and Europe. She plays with grace and delicacy, as well as brilliancy of tone. Dr. Dan Price of Royal College of Music, London, England, spoke of her work as both brilliant and artistic and of her appearance as a triumph.
Miss Fleta Lawrence is well equipped by nature and training for the important place she has in the program of the Procter Company. As an accompanist, she is dominated by that fine spirit of understanding and sympathy so necessary as the background of an artist. As a pianist she displays in her solo numbers a power and technique which insures for her a future of unusual brilliancy. This is the third professional season for Miss Lawrence and her unusual success makes certain her warm welcome as a member of this company of artists.
