BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN
Figure
MRS. WILCOX has been appearing in orchestras since she was very young, when she began playing first violin in the High School Orchestra. Besides studying the violin, she also studied piano and mandolin, and at the age of eighteen won a scholarship from the Chicago Conservatory. She took a three-year course at Albion College, studying violin, piano, harmony, and musical history, after which she took up the study of the fretted instruments, graduating on mandolin. Since then Mrs. Wilcox has studied banjo with Claud C. Rowden, and mandolin with Alfredo Quartullo, both of Chicago.
Mrs. Wilcox played five different instruments with a proficiency which shows much musical ability.—
Battle Creek Daily Moon.
The organization reflects great credit upon Mrs. Wilcox's ability as a director. She is a thorough musician, being a graduate on mandolin, violin and piano. Her success as a director in orchestra work is demonstrated by the flattering offers received to enter the concert field.—
Battle Creek Enquirer.
Mrs. Wilcox is well trained in her profession, every appearance making her proficiency pronounced, whether as soloist or orchestra leader.—
Battle Creek Journal.
Members of Battle Creek Lodge No. 12, F. & A. M., and their ladies enjoyed a fine dinner and entertainment, some four hundred being present. Mrs. Edna Dole Wilcox and her mandolin orchestra made a big hit.—
Battle Creek Moon Journal.
Nearly three hundred members and friends of the Ceresco Community Club were entertained in the C. B. A. Hall. Musical numbers were furnished by an orchestra, of which Mrs. Edna Dole Wilcox is director. All the numbers were enthusiastically received and encores called for.—
Ceresco News.
There was music and mirth and entertainment a-plenty last night at the Elks' Charity Bazaar. Booth managers were kept busy, while all the time the music of the orchestra enlivened the spirit of the bazaar. The orchestra, under the direction of Mrs. Edna Dole Wilcox, is more popular every night.—

The Thursday Morning Musical Club yesterday departed from its usual prescribed order of being and participated in a most delightful afternoon function, and an extremely pleasing and out-of-the-ordinary program was presented. Picturesque by reason of being presented in Italian costume, and delightful because of its musical worth. A trio, with Mrs. Edna Dole Wilcox and Mrs. Margaret Newsom playing mandolins, and with Miss Ella Dole at the piano, presented a group of numbers with markedly good style.—
Battle Creek News.
Successful indeed was the fifth annual rally and banquet of Battle Creek Missionary Societies, held at the First Congregational Church, in observance of the Day of Prayer. Mrs. Edna Dole Wilcox's orchestra gave a group of very pleasing numbers.—
Battle Creek Moon Journal.
Long tables adorned with flags of various nations and states were arranged at the First Methodist Church for the Banquet of States and Nations. Fine music was provided during the evening by the Wilcox Entertainers.—
