The Steindel Trio
Figure
MANAGEMENT
MUTUAL LYCEUM BUREAU
55 AUDITORIUM BLDG., CHICAGO
The Steindel Trio
THE STEINDEL TRIO occupies a position unique and alone as an ensemble organization.
MR. STEINDEL
who is necessarily the central figure of the Trio—was for years the First 'Cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and was—in 1892—chosen by Mr. Theodore Thomas as the one 'Cellist in the world for the prominent position he now occupies.
MRS. STEINDEL
who is a magnificent pianist and musician, has been, since her marriage to the great 'Cellist, his sole accompanist, and has contributed at all times her share towards Mr. Steindel's wonderful success before the public.
MR. STEINDEL has had in mind a number of years a perfect Trio, and now has found, in
MR. FRITZ ITTE
a member of The Thomas Orchestra, a comparable and competent third party. The Trio as it stands has been pronounced by the most severe music critics to produce the most perfect ensemble of any organization of its kind.
TESTIMONIALS
Chicago Tribune
Mr. Steindel's performance of the D'Albert concerto was that of a master—beauty of the tone temperament and broad musicianship, combining to make his playing technically and interpretatively in an eminent degree satisfying.
Chicago Daily News
He plays most gloriously.
Chicago Examiner
The soloist of the evening was Mr. Bruno Steindel, who chose for his masterly effort a composition by D'Albert. Mr. Steindel is a master of the 'cello.
Musical Courier
The program opened with the Richard Strauss Sonato, Op. 6. Mrs. Steindel was at the piano and fully shared the honors with her husband.
Chicago Chronicle
In the encores Mr. Steindel was assisted by Mrs. Steindel at the piano. She deserved at least half of the applause which the number evoked, for her playing was characterized by great delicacy and appropriate feeling.
Nashville Banner
He ranks among the very highest in his line, and gives a performance on the 'cello that is unrivaled.
Chicago Tribune
The second selection on the program was Boellmann's variations symphonic for 'cello and orchestra. The work was introduced here last winter by the Belgian 'cellist, Gerardy. Mr Steindel entered with spirit and enthusiasm into the task he had set himself, and performed it in the eminently finished and satisfactory manner that has long distinguished his work as an artist. The tone he wins from his instrument is of exceptional sensuous loveliness, and he gave yesterday the composition with a musicianship and artistic honesty superior to those the eminent Belgian 'cellist brought to its performance.
New York Times
Mr Steindel's tone is excellent. He is first of all a singer upon his instrument, and his technical equipment is complete.
Minneapolis
Bruno Steindel scored an emphatic success by his masterly performance of the Boellmann Symphonic Variations. He produced a tone of wonderful strength and warmth, and his technique was shown in all its perfection.
The Memphis Commercial
Mr. Steindel's playing was the perfection of taste and culture and feeling.
Duluth
The 'cello soloist, Bruno Steindel, is musically a giant.
TESTIMONIALS
St. Louis
As a 'cello soloist he has no equal in this country, and it may be doubted if there is his superior elsewhere.
Pittsburg Times
Bruno Steindel played a concerto by Molique. He showed himself an artist in expression and sympathetic effect.
Chicago Inter Ocean
Bruno Steindel's playing of the Saint-Saens Concerto was marked by a strength of sentiment, a nicety of detail, and a finish that won the most enthusiastic recall of the evening.
Chicago Herald
Mr. Steindel's selection was a concerto by Davidoff, which enabled him to display great virtuosity, as well as a noble, pure and well-rounded tone. His technique is quite beyond cavil.
Chicago Tribune
He is a player of excellent abilities, no 'cellist ever heard in Chicago having equaled him in perfect accuracy and rare beauty and breadth of tone, ease and facility of execution, abundance of technique and artisticness of interpretation.
Toledo Commercial
Mr. Steindel fairly thrilled the audience by the purity of his tone and his brilliant technique. He played the Fantasie by Davidoff; Kol Nidree by Bruch, and Elfentauz by Popper.
Boston
He was at his best in the Concerto by Volkmann. Mr. Steindel probably has no rival upon his instrument in the country.
St. Louis Globe-Democrat
The Vieuxtemps Concerto as played by Fritz Itte, the young violinist, was a rare treat. His great technique and fine staccato bowing were shown to great advantage.
Milwaukee Sentinel
Next came Saraste's Zigeunerweisen, a brilliant violin morceaux, which Mr. Itte played with such fiery, dashing bravour that the delighted audience burst into a very storm of applause, which did not abate until he responded with an encore, forming a beautiful musical contrast.
Rockford Star
Mr. Itte played the Pagianini Concerto, his brilliant technique and fine tone showing to perfection. He received several encores.
Milwaukee Sentinel
The soloist of the evening—Mr. Fritz Itte—made a deep impression by his skillful violin playing. His performance of the Brahms' Dances and Sarasates' Hungarian Air was especially interesting.
