KATE PENTZER STOKES
Dramatic Actress
KATE PENTZER STOKES, a dynamic yet gracious and glamorous personality, well to be reckoned with in the realm of the drama and the theatre, appears in two very variable programs: Ladies of Shakespeare in which she portrays the famous characters of Rosalind, Portia and Lady Macbeth beautifully costumed. Her alternate program, Sketches of Modern Everyday Life is lighter in vein and rivals those of Ruth Draper and Cornelia Otis Skinner. Her success in these programs in Clubs, Colleges, Schools and Forums from coast to coast has been pronounced.
Distinguished Career
KATE PENTZER STOKES, well-known as an actress and dramatic artist, has had a most distinguished career on the legitimate stage and in pictures. She has appeared in such Broadway plays as The Fool, Royal Family, Craig's Wife, Holiday, You and I and was leading woman with Chas. N. Lum, noted Shakespearean star who speaks of her as the most plausible Lady Macbeth I have ever known. In pictures, she was especially selected for the second lead in Rescue Squad playing opposite Ralph Forbes.
While in Hollywood she won instantaneous success with her programs and appeared before all the important clubs—Friday Morning Opera Club, where she was guest artist with Lily Pons; the Schubert Wa-Wan Club; the Catholic Womens Club; the Mens Breakfast Club, where she was guest of honor with Jeanette MacDonald; and at the Rotary Club, where she was co-guest with Amelia Earhart.
