The Lions Quartette
THE LIONS QUARTETTE has engaged in extensive concert work throughout the United States, but during the coming season will concertize exclusively in the Middle West. They have received favorable press comments and have been greeted enthusiastically by all their audiences, not only on account of their voices, but also because of their genial manner and pleasing personalities. They give a varied program of quartette selections, duets, solos, piano solos, and readings. Their repertoire includes operatic, semi-classic and popular numbers.
Russell Rizer, first tenor, has appeared with the San Carlo Grand Opera Company as guest artist, in leading roles, and for the last two seasons has scored a decided success with the Kansas City Civic Grand Opera Company, in the roles of Pinkerton, in Madam Butterfly, and Turridu in Cavalleria. Mr. Rizer is now soloist in the First Congregational Church, Kansas City, Missouri.
John Musselman, second tenor, has made a national reputation for himself as a ballad singer, as well as for his ability as a singer of the humorous type.
Floyd Gamble, baritone, was for several years leading baritone with the Kansas City Grand Opera Company. Both Mr. Musselman and Mr. Gamble are now soloists in the Immanuel Presbyterian Church of Kansas City, Missouri.
Oskar Hederstrom, bass and reader, was for several years connected with the Redpath Lyceum Bureau, and appeared with such companies as The Panama Singers, Premier Artists and others of like ability. Mr. Hederstrom is now soloist at Westminister Congregational Church, Kansas City, Missouri.
Virginia Yeakle Rizer is a well known coach and accompanist, having assisted such teachers as Madame Emma Dowman and Oscar Saenger of New York.
