A Courageous Young French Patriot, who Was Sent by the French National Committee to Washington as a Member of the French Supply Council…
THE REDPATH BUREAU is happy to announce the addition of PIERRE CLEMENCEAU, a brilliant and courageous young French patriot, to its list of celebrity attractions. Mr. Clemenceau who was sent to Washington from West Africa by the French National Committee as a member of the French Supply Council, is a grandson of Georges Clemenceau, the Premier of France during the First World War.
Pierre Clemenceau has had a very interesting and exciting career. He was in the French army during the Battle of France and escaped German occupation in December, 1940. He lived in Dakar, West Africa, until the arrival of the American forces. He frequently had occasion to help them and was offered a captaincy in the U.S. Army. However, after a trip to Algiers, he was sent by the French National Committee to Washington. Before the war he traveled widely in Europe and the Americas in the interest of his business in West Africa. For two years he was in India and Afghanistan and was the first to drive a motor car from the Persian border to Kabul, capital of Afghanistan.
Mr. Clemenceau is married to an American girl, the former Miss Jane Grunewald of one of New Orleans' first families. His grandmother also was an American.
One of his first engagements for Redpath was as a substitute for the Hon. Sumner Welles on the Michigan Oratorical Association lecture course at Ann Arbor. He spoke to a large audience at Hill Auditorium and was well received. His talk, France Today and Tomorrow, was given a prominent spot on the first page of The Michigan Daily. The Ann Arbor News also featured his talk. At White Plains, N. Y., they report that he gave a splendid speech that surely held his audience, even moving some to tears. His English is excellent.

U. S. TERMED PARADISE BY PIERRE CLEMENCEAU
Grandson of Tiger of France Urges Chance for French to Rebuild Country Themselves . . .
You in America live in a paradise and you are lucky to live in a paradise, Pierre Clemenceau, grandson of France's great premier during first World War, said yesterday, speaking at Hill Auditorium.
French Need Tools
What the French need most of all, he continued, are the tools. We have to work for ourselves. We are not begging. It's just something to work on that we need. With that we will rebuild our country.
Nations, he said, like individuals, can only live if they preserve their dignity and their self-respect. A big country like France cannot be just rubbed away from the map. And France will live.
