FORMER GOV. CHAS. H. BROUGH Orator - Wit - Statesman.
Former Governor Charles H. Brough, of Arkansas
THE patriotic and inspirational lectures of former Governor Charles H. Brough, of Arkansas, who was the chief executive of that commonwealth during the momentous period of the World War, and who led in mobilizing the patriotic activities of the state, sound a note of patriotic pride and 100 per cent Americanism that will not soon be forgotten. In America's Leadership of the World, which has been delivered on Chautauqua and Lyceum platforms, and at patriotic gatherings during the World War, in more than twenty-five states, Governor Brough marshals an array of facts and developments of America's achievements in all lines of endeavor in such a convincing manner as to thoroughly grip his audiences.
Governor Brough represents the best in Southern oratory and statesmanship. His administration for two terms as Governor of his commonwealth was marked by the passing of more constructive legislation—especially along sociological and humanitarian lines, than is usually true of the political career of the average public man. A Doctor of Philosophy from the Johns-Hopkins University, National President of the Tau Kappa Alpha, the honorary debating fraternity of America, for many years the President of the United States Good Roads Association, and the honorary president of the Arkansas Childrens' Home Society and Hospital—and a member of the Board of Directors of the International Y. M. C. A., Doctor Brough combines in a rare degree the ardor of the scholar with the substantial achievements of a man of affairs. His messages are eloquent and inspiring, thoughtful and constructive, interspersed with rare bits of humor and sidesplitting anecdotes.

This lecture, embodying scholarship of the highest order and filled with poetic gems, is a stirring appeal to the minds and hearts of men for a recognition and a renewed consecration to the God and Christ of human history.
