LEROY A. CROOKS
THRILLING ADVENTURE OF A 21-YEAR-OLD YOUTH IN SEARCH OF PIRATE'S GOLD WITH A MOVIE CAMERA
LEROY A. CROOKS, seized by the strange desire to trail the long-lost doubloons of sinister sea robbers, like Captain Kidd, to their mysterious hiding places, left Chicago in May, 1939, for the world's most outstanding freasure island, made famous through magazine articles, newspaper stories and books, located off the rugged Nova Scotian coast. With him was his constant companion, the motion-picture camera, an old Ford coupe, and less than a hundred dollars cash in his pocket as he began a thrilling 9,000-mile adventure to the mysterious Oak Island in Nova Scotia. The small finances were exhausted before the first of the four-months' jaunt was over. Did this youthful adventurer give up? No! He resorted to his keen wit and personality to see him through. His diary tells how he sold pictures of the King and Queen of England which he had taken, picked blueberries for ten cents a quart, and ran a sort of taxi service to provide his daily bread. Thus he was able to secure one of the most thrilling and authentic motion pictures of modern freasure-hunting ever produced … the dramatic story of the search for the pirate's gold that Captain Kidd is said to have hidden.
BRILLIANT CINEMATOGRAPHER
LEROY CROOKS' vast experience in motion and still picture laboratory technique and camera handling is proof enough for the high caliber of his romantic adventure epic, CAPTAIN KIDD'S GOLD? He is one of the youngest lecturers appearing before the public today. His dynamic personality is equaled only by his fine, youthful platform appearance which in itself captures the appeal of any audience. Crooks tells his thrilling story in a vivid, gripping manner, like the true adventurer that he is.
HONOR GRADUATE OF MOOSEHEART
LEROY A. CROOKS was educated at the Mooseheart Vocational High School, operated by the Loyal Order of Moose, of which his father was a member. The school was founded by Senator James J. Davis who has been viewing with keen interest the progress of young Crooks since his graduation from Mooseheart. Senator Davis has highly commended him on his recent achievement, CAPTAIN KIDD'S GOLD? Mr. Crooks graduated with high honors and an opportunity for a scholarship, but turned it down for a life of romantic travel and adventure. Young Crooks is only 21 years of age.

A TYPICAL COMMENT
ADVENTURERS' CLUB, CHICAGO (Ladies' Night), to the Redpath Bureau:
In behalf of the Adventurers' club of Chicago, I wish to thank you for the program of CAPTAIN KIDD'S GOLD? presented by Leroy A. Crooks this past week. Mr. Crooks is not only an able photographer, but also an excellent narrator. Ours is probably the most critical audience in Chicago, yet Leroy Crooks carried away with him the recommendation of the entire audience. His continuity is good, his colors accurate, his subject matter unusual and interesting. We hope, sometime in the future, to have Mr. Crooks again as an evening guest speaker at the club.
Sincerely, F. A. BROWN, Entertainment.
