HEDLEY HEPWORTH
Proudly Presents His
ONE MAN THEATRE
HEDLEY HEPWORTH,
distinguished dramatist of British birth and education and generally considered England's most celebrated Actor-of-the-Platform has travelled far and wide in order to obtain authentic background for his characters. He has recently returned from a tour in Italy. In London, Mr. Hepworth had the honor of presenting his inimitable interpretation of the immortal Scrooge before a grandaughter of Charles Dickens. In Paris, he gave a performance for the Association des Professeurs de Langues de Ia Seine. He scored a
CONTINENTAL HIT.
It is interesting to note that the British Secret Service made good use of Hepworth's impersonation talents during the war. For eighteen months this man of many faces impersonated a British stevedore, making the pubs to find out if sailors and others were talking out of turn. Not once was his disguise discovered. Included in the programs are amusing tales and interesting characters collected by Hepworth while visiting the old English Inns and Taverns.
Lmmortal Characters From Jiction
FROM A REPERTOIRE OF MANY MASTERPIECES HEDLEY HEPWORTH
will SELECT and present complete impersonations of Dickensian characters such as Micawber, Uriah Heep, Sidney Carton and Scrooge. Powerful Shakespearian personalities as Shylock, Wolsey and Hamlet. James Hilton's world beloved creation
Mr. Chips
and Robert Louis Stevenson's, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, etc.
OTHER SELECTIONS
are taken from the works of Alfred Noyes, Edgar Allan Poe, George Eliot, Henry Newbolt, John Drinkwater, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Robert Southey, Leigh Hunt, Victor Hugo and Kipling.
THESE OUTSTANDING PROGRAMS OF GREAT CHARACTERS BROUGHT TO LIFE
and enjoyed by old and young are at once educational, literary and at the same time highly entertaining — packed with fun and good humor. The characters are paraded, pagent-like, before our eyes. These unforgetable creatures from all walks of life — hypocrites, eccentrics, misers, the pompous, the beloved, the high and the low — are all portrayed with rare understanding. The background of each character is carefully explained before being impersonated in costume and make-up, changes being made in full view of the audience. So consummate are these portrayals that the characters appear to step from the printed page and live.
Mr. Hepworth's art is an established fact with the American people. From the moment the curtain rises to the termination of his show audiences have been held spellbound from coast to coast. His return date record is remarkable.

Enthusiastic comments have come in from various sources. For many of the young people, Dickens will no longer be a writer of heavy tomes written in fine print and placed on the required reading list; instead, his characters will be immortal.

We thoroughly enjoyed Hedley Hepworth's offering and the writer has heard a great many nice compliments on his very fine impersonations.
